Mobile Phone Use

At Childwall Sports & Science Academy, mobile phones and electronic devices are not allowed during the school day. This policy creates a safe, focused learning environment while supporting students’ mental health and wellbeing.

Why the Ban Matters

• Focus and learning: Removing devices reduces distractions and helps students engage fully in lessons.
• Wellbeing: Limiting screen time during school hours helps manage stress and anxiety linked to social media.
• Fairness: A phone-free environment reduces social pressures and supports equality among students.

How It Works

• Students may bring mobile phones to school and must place them in a pouch.
• Phones must remain in the pouch and kept on their person at all times.
• Students without a pouch must hand their phone in at the start of the school day.
• Use of phones outside of designated times and areas is not permitted.
• Parents should contact the school office if needed; direct messaging to students during school hours is not permitted.

Positive Impact

Since the policy was introduced, teachers report stronger focus in lessons, fewer disruptions, and a calmer, more respectful environment across the school. Students and staff alike have noticed improved wellbeing and engagement.
