Welcome to Childwall Sports & Science Academy
Transition
Welcome to the Year 6 transition page. This page provides parents and new students with further information about the transition process of becoming a Childwall Sports and Science Academy student.
We have put together a short video which gives you a taste of our fabulous facilities, classrooms and places to relax that we have in our school. You’ll also meet some of the staff who will be there to greet Year 7 on their first day!
We would like to invite you to take a look at the video and join us on your very own ‘Virtual Tour’ of Childwall Sports and Science Academy!
Please click here to read our Student Transition booklet which is packed full of useful information for our new Year 7 families.

Our Year 7 students said:
“When I first came to Childwall I was nervous, scared and worried because I did not know what to expect. After only three weeks I can honesty say that all my fears have been put to rest.”
“The teachers and members of staff are lovely. Everyone is kind, helpful, friendly and makes you feel really at home.”
“Coming here just seems to give me the feeling that there is something to look forward to everyday.”
“At first I thought I would never make any friends, but Childwall has boosted my confidence.”
“The reason you should join our Childwall family is because we have such a happy, educational, fun and safe environment.”
Supporting Student Transition from Primary to Secondary School
Childwall Sports and Science Academy runs a comprehensive transition programme designed to support students as they move from primary to secondary education. The programme begins with visits from primary schools, allowing pupils to experience lessons and familiarise themselves with the school environment. Childwall also conducts outreach activities, bringing engaging learning experiences directly into local primary schools.
Our Transition Day gives Year 6 students a full day at Childwall, meeting staff and peers. We also hold a Parent Information Evening which offers families the chance to find out key information, meet teachers, and ask questions about the transition process.

Summer School Success
In late August, we run a week-long free Summer School for our Year 6 students so they can get to know our school, teachers and make friends with other students before they start in Year 7. Students leave feeling confident and excited about starting secondary school, already familiar with the routines and environment. The programme also helps families feel connected and reassured about their child’s transition.
