To further this commitment, we are proud to have embedded our Enable Suite, a dedicated space designed specifically for learners who require a smaller setting as a bridging strategy to the main body of the school.
What is the Enable Suite?
The Enable Suite is a calm, structured, and sensory-friendly environment that provides learners with the tools and support they need to thrive in a mainstream secondary school setting. It is more than just a classroom – it is a safe space where students can regulate, learn, and develop essential life skills.
The creation of this inclusive environment ensures every individual feels valued, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential. Sensory Circuits
Supporting Regulation and Readiness to Learn
At Childwall Sports and Science Academy, our Sensory Circuits are structured, short sessions designed to help pupils with additional needs regulate their sensory input and prepare for learning. Delivered at the start of the school day or before key transitions, these circuits provide a sequence of physical and sensory activities that stimulate both body and mind.
The approach is based on three stages:
- Alerting Activities – Exercises that wake up the body and brain, such as jumping, skipping, or dynamic movements.
- Organising Activities – Tasks that require balance, coordination, and sequencing, helping pupils develop focus and control.
- Calming Activities – Gentle, soothing exercises that settle the nervous system, promoting emotional regulation and readiness for classroom learning.
By engaging in Sensory Circuits, pupils can:
- Improve concentration and attention.
- Reduce anxiety and emotional dysregulation.
- Enhance motor skills and body awareness.
- Transition smoothly into the school day with a positive mindset.
This proactive intervention supports inclusion by meeting sensory needs in a structured, supportive environment, enabling pupils to access learning alongside their peers
Breakfast Club
At Childwall Sports and Science Academy, our “Breakfast Club”, which runs from 7.45 AM to 8.20 AM is the perfect way to kick off the morning in a relaxed, friendly environment. Students can enjoy a warm slice of buttered toast while engaging in fun activities such as board games, bingo, and other interactive challenges designed to spark conversation and laughter.
This is a space for positive social interaction across all year groups, where friendships grow and everyone feels welcome. To keep the atmosphere focused and inclusive, mobile phones are not permitted (in line with school policy), giving students the chance to truly connect face-to-face and enjoy the moment without distractions.
