Childwall Achieves Inclusive Attendance Bronze Standard

Childwall Sports & Science Academy has been awarded the Inclusive Attendance Bronze Standard, recognising a clear, student-centred approach to attendance that is inclusive by design and delivered with consistency and intent.
The award reflects a whole-school strategy shaped around the lived experience of students. Provision has been carefully aligned to remove barriers, strengthen engagement and ensure pupils feel supported and understood. This inclusive approach is underpinned by strong, authentic relationships that set expectations while building trust.
Assessor Andy Mitchell praised the school’s work, saying: “The quality of relationships is exemplary – warm, kind and, most importantly, authentic.”


Childwall Academy continues to see year-on-year improvements across key measures, including headline attendance data, demonstrating that relational practice delivers sustained improvement.
Leadership has been central to this success. SLT and the attendance team have embedded a distributed leadership model where responsibility for attendance is clearly understood and owned across the school, ensuring consistent practice and shared accountability.
Reflecting on the achievement, Head of School Dr Thomas said: “This award recognises the collective commitment of our staff to putting students first. Inclusive attendance is about relationships, consistency and belief in every child. We are proud of the progress we have made and focused on building even stronger outcomes for our young people.”
Student Nadi said: “I come to school because I feel supported and part of the community.” Nathan added: “I attend every day because it helps me stay on track with my learning and future goals.”
The Bronze Standard was celebrated on Empowering Friday, a regular opportunity to recognise success across the school community. The award marks an important milestone for Childwall Sports & Science Academy and sets a strong foundation for continued growth and improvement.
The Childwall team is now working towards Silver in Year 2 to become a National Inclusive Attendance Collaborative School, inspiring others through their commitment to student engagement and wellbeing. a cohort already showing teamwork, resilience and ambition.
