Childwall Academy Culture Day 2025: Celebrating Diversity, Heritage, and Unity

Childwall Sports and Science Academy came alive with colour, music, and cultural pride during its annual Culture Day — a powerful celebration of the school’s rich diversity and global heritage.
Students, staff, and families took centre stage in traditional attire representing cultures from across the world — including local Liverpudlian traditions. The event highlighted Childwall Academy’s inclusive ethos, where over 40 languages are spoken at home and students proudly share roots in countries such as Yemen, Malaysia, Eritrea, Ireland, Greece, and more.

A Festival of Culture, Identity, and Inclusion
The day began with moving poetry performances from acclaimed writers Amina Atiq and Blue Saint, setting the tone for a full programme of events that spanned dance workshops, interactive storytelling, art sessions, and cultural discussions in classrooms. Every activity reinforced the school’s belief in celebrating both individuality and collective identity.
“Culture Day is more than a celebration — it’s a space to connect,” said Assistant Headteacher and event organiser Ms Cassidy. “It allows students to feel proud of their heritage and listen deeply to the experiences of others.”
Headteacher Ms Vincent added: “We are a joyful, inclusive community that values cultural difference and believes in the power of unity.”

Food, Family, and Global Flavours
The event culminated in a Family Cultural Food Festival, where students and families shared dishes from around the world. From student-made samosas in Food Tech to home-cooked meals representing dozens of cultures, food became a universal language of connection.
One student reflected: “Sharing the story of my outfit made me feel proud — like I brought a piece of my family into school.” Another added: “I learned how to dance to African music and we created our own routine together — it was amazing!”
Why Culture Matters at Childwall
Childwall Academy’s Culture Day is more than an annual event — it’s a key part of the school’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. By creating many opportunities to celebrate identity and heritage throughout the academic year, the school fosters a stronger, more respectful community.
