Students Recognised at Childwall Experiences Celebration

In May, Liverpool Hope University hosted the annual Childwall Experiences Celebration Event in front of proud parents, families and carers. More than 80 Year 7 to 13 students from Childwall Sports and Science Academy and Childwall Sixth Form received awards for completing a number of extracurricular activities both within and outside school. This award scheme aims to highlight not only academic performance but the broader experiences and passions that shape well-rounded young people. Special awards were presented to a student from each year group, Altamash (Year 7), Harry (Year 8), Alexia (Year 9) Allen (Year 10), Renae (Year 11), Oliver (Sixth Form) and Toby-Jo from Year 11 won the Outstanding Commitment Award.

The event showcased a wide range of achievements, from sports and creative arts to volunteering and personal projects. Headteacher Ms. Vincent commended the students’ efforts, stating: “Your achievements are a testament to the power of perseverance and the willingness to step outside your comfort zone. You have embraced new challenges in your extracurricular pursuits, and these achievements have helped you learn and grow.”

Guest speaker Matthew Powell, from youth initiative LoudSpeaker, added: “When you push yourself beyond what you already know, you discover your strengths and passions. It’s in those moments of uncertainty and challenge that you grow the most.”

Lauren Clarke from Liverpool Hope University spoke to students about common misconceptions about the costs of university. She said: “These achievements will help you build your CV and open doors in the future. We’d love to see some of you studying at our university in the years to come.”

The event’s atmosphere of pride and optimism underscored Childwall Academy’s approach to education and offering a range of extra-curricular experiences from sports clubs, drama and music to work experience, meet the professionals events and community volunteering.
