Safeguarding

SAFEGUARDING OVERVIEW

Childwall Sports and Science Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We are fully committed to ensuring that consistent effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support families, children and staff at school. All concerns are passed through the members of staff who are trained as "Designated Child Protection Officers" in school in compliance with the "sharing of information" guidance.

Childwall Sports & Science Academy’s Safeguarding Policy Principles
  • Welfare of the child is of paramount importance.
  • All children, regardless of age, gender, ability, culture, race, language, religion or sexual identity, have equal rights to protection.
  • All staff have an equal responsibility to act on any suspicion or disclosure that may suggest a child is at risk of harm.
  • Pupils and staff involved in child protection issues will receive appropriate support.

Safeguarding Measures

Cause for Concern

All staff at Childwall Sports and Science Academy are asked to report any causes for concern to the School Safeguarding Team using the website based software 'CPOMS'. Any concerns will be shared with relevant stakeholders as deemed appropriate by the Designated Safeguarding Lead.

Attendance

All lateness and absences are recorded by the Attendance Coordinator, Miss Magee. Reasons will be sought for all absence or lateness. Attendance is monitored through these systems and referrals to the Safeguarding Team can be made. Parents will always be informed of concerns around attendance at the earliest point. If attendance concerns continue the school will refer to the Education Welfare Officer.

Parent Info

Parent Info provides high quality information to parents and carers about their children's wellbeing and resilience. Schools can host the content on their own website and use it in any other ways (in letters to parents etc) that they want.

This service is free and ranges across a wide range of subject matter, from difficult topics about sex, relationships and the internet or body image and peer pressure to broader parenting topics like ‘how much sleep do teenagers need?’In line with CEOP’s Thinkuknow programme, some of the content covers internet safety, but it all starts from the assumption that young people make little distinction between their online and offline lives and the issues for parents are often the same. The aim is to help parents help their children be discriminating, web-literate and resilient.
