Consultation Letter: Changing the Times of the School Day
Following the Governing Body meeting last week, I am writing to every parent to seek your views on a proposal to slightly alter the timing and format of the school day at Childwall Sports & Science Academy from September 2018.
In summary, the proposal is to change the end of the school day by 10 minutes to finish at 3:05pm. The minimum teaching requirements as advised by the Government are not being compromised by these proposed changes. I’ve set out below the reasons for the proposed change and details of the consultation arrangements.
The reason for this change is simply that we have looked carefully at the student social time and the capacity of the canteen. It is extremely good news that Childwall Sports & Science Academy is growing, with three full year groups in KS3 in 2018. We have listened carefully to the views of our student body who wish to, and do, take part in many extra-curricular activities at lunchtimes. The students and staff feel that the canteen is extremely busy with our current timings.
The start time of the day will remain the same and therefore the only proposed changes are:
Please see the full proposed timings for the school day below.
The Governors and staff feel strongly that these changes will have a positive impact on the welfare and education of the children at Childwall. It is hoped they will provide children with an improved learning experience.
The consultation period began on 12th April 2018 and will end on 27th April 2018, so please could you respond to my PA: firstname.lastname@example.org before the deadline if you have any views or issues. The Governors and myself will then consider the responses and will inform all families of the outcome before the end of May 2018 to facilitate any changes that may occur from September 2018.
